ISO 39001:2014 standard helps to manage and reduce traffic accidents.

In this morning, Scientific Conference "Disseminate guidance on the application of Road Safety Management System according to TCVN 39001:2014 standard" occured at General Department of Standards Metrology and Quality.

This conference has the participation of Leaders of General Department of Standards Metrology and Quality, Leaders of National Traffic Safety Committee, the Representative of Ministry of Health, the Representative of the functional unit of Ministry of Transport and many State Management Agencies on Traffic Safety, representatives of Universities, leaders of enterprises.

According to Mr Ha Minh Hiep, Deputy Director of General Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality, the conference was held with the aim of helping organizations, Vietnam's enterprises to raise public awareness of road traffic safety, accessing road traffic safety and facilitating the application process of TCVN ISO 39001:2014 standards to business's activities.

TCVN ISO 39001:2014 standard - road traffic safety management system was issued by International Organization for Standardization in 2012. This standard regulates requirements and instructions of road traffic safety management system, which helps to reduce traffic accidents which can be applied to all stages from zoning, design, construction, exploitation, operation and maintenance of road traffic systems.

TCVN ISO 39001:2014 is not only useful to transportation enterprises but is also an effective tool for state management agencies relating to traffic safety in terms of areas of legislation, transport infrastucture, vehicles, drivers, post-accident responses, traffic safety education and insurance.  The trend in applying a comprehensive safety system approach to road traffic including the application of road traffic safety management system, according to TCVN ISO 39001:2014, are highly popular in the world.

At the conference, managers, experts presented reports concerning the situation of traffic accidents in Vietnam and TCVN ISO 39001:2014 with the special subjects such as:  Vietnam Traffic Safety - The reality and solutions; Benefits of applying Standard TCVN ISO 39001:2014 - Road Traffic Safety Management System.  Factors which affect the results of road traffic safety application according to TCVN ISO 39001:2014 Standard.

According to Mr Tran Huu Minh, the Representative of National Traffic Safety Committee, in recent years, the situation of traffic accidents in Vietnam has been controlled, the number of people who died of traffic accidents decreased to less than 9000 people per year; however, it is inevitable that there are always potential factors which result in traffic accidents.  TCVN ISO 39001:2014 is an useful supporting tool for state management agencies to pre-audit law and policy plans relating to transport infrastucture, vehicles, drivers, post-accident responses, traffic safety education and insurance.  Particularly, transportation enterprises can apply this standard to traffic safety management of enterprises, which contributes to the reduction of traffic accidents in Vietnam.

Mr Nguyen Hong Phuong - Head of Department of Quality Management, Nitto Denko Company stated the application of TCVN ISO 39001:2014 enables employees to increase their awareness of traffic safety. Working hours are simultaneously warranted.

"The productivity, quality and effectiveness of employees are improved.  They are main reasons which help companies to boost the productivity and develop", Mr Phuong shared.
