5S and Kaizen: The leverage of increase in productivity.

The topic - 5S and KAIZEN:  Leverage to increase labor productivity of an Economic Forum was held in Hanoi by The Assistance Center for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the North under the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Planning and Investment in coordination with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) ).

Within the framework of this forum, Japan International Cooperation Agencies shared their experience in supporting small and medium-sized businesses and simultaneously creating sustainability in Supporting Industry Development Program. This forum is also a chance of exchange and research in innovative models of plants after they succeeded in supporting enterprises in the programme.  Vietnam's enterprises have access to curricula, foreign investors then become members of the network of the Assistance Center for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the North in supporting activities.

On January 11th, at 5S/ Kaizen Forum - Leverage to increase productivity and quality held by The Assistance Center for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the North (TAC Ha Noi) under Ministry of Planning and Investment in accordance with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Mrs Nguyen My Anh, Head of Department of TAC Hanoi pre-audit Office said, by the end of 2017, the Supporting Industry Development Program has implemented support to improve productivity and quality for more than 212 businesses, currently supporting 157 enterprises. At post-eveluation support, the programme indicated that enterprises haved increased productivity by 166%, currently maintained at 188% thanks to the application of improvement.

According to Mrs My Anh, there are some outstanding results in the program thanks to the application of 5S/Kaizen model (the model was deployed with the aim of reorganizing, relocating production gound in a scientific and reasonable manner and raising workers' awareness to enterprises), more specifically, enterprises reduced costs in faulty products, saved the time for production, transportation among stages. Therefore, enterprises' reputation will be gained.

5S is one of the most important programs of Kaizen with the aim of arranging and relocating production ground in a scientific and reasonable manner and raising worker's awareness in enterprises.  Kaizen is the production philosophy with different tools to improve quality of management, reduce waste of production through small and continuous improvement.  5S/Kaizen embraces: picking, arrangement, cleanliness, care and readiness.
